After watching this story, I'm very surprised to learn that such simple, seemingly harmless comment got him fired. Especially for the fact that the employer mentioned that they cannot become in the middle of public issues, whether for or against - when the issue at hand was the man being against a shooting. The firing was, however, legal because companies are allowed to terminate employees based on their online activity. The term digital footprint refers to what is left behind by your activity online - whenever you post a picture, leave a comment, or like a post it could be shared all over the internet for all to see... forever. No, nothing you ever post online is really private no matter what you set your privacy settings to.
